Todd Hagen informed us that "It is with great sadness that we announced today
that our beloved leader, friend and founder Al Monti, has passed away.
Al died at his home on July 3, 2007 at 5:00 P.M. with his daughters
Marlene and Betty and close friends Joe and Cindy Geremia at his
side. He was 90 years old and had been in failing health for quite
sometime.
Al Monti founded the Arizona Accordion Club on July
27, 1996 with just a handful of interested people and built the club
into a strong and thriving group of accordion music lovers that many
have sought to emulate. Through his leadership and friendship many
accordion professionals have come to visit Phoenix and the Arizona
Accordion Club and bring great joy, entertainment and pleasure to all.
Al remained president until June 11, 2007, aware
that his health was failing and being president of the club was getting
to be just too much work for him, Al relinquished his title as
President, so that leadership of his beloved club could be transferred
to Todd Hagen."
At the time Mr. Hagen said "I am honored to
have been asked by Al to take his place as President of the Arizona
Accordion Club. I feel confident that the club can continue to thrive
because we have the support of a wonderful Board of Directors. Without
their help, it would be a difficult task to carry on."
